On Camping: My Thoughts Explained

Significance of National Parks

Extensive and expansive civilization in most parts of the world poses a huge danger to natural resources. Such resources include flora and fauna or simply plants and animals. This is the foundation on which most countries have set up designated areas for conservation of their plants and animals. These are the special areas that are usually referred to as national parks or game reserves. Governments usually run or manage such national parks and game reserves.

National parks are very important to a country especially in relation to the economy of the country in question. First of all, different countries usually have different species of wild animals and rare plant species. Tourists therefore visit areas where they are sure to see rare species of wildlife and plants. Tourism is a major foreign exchange earner to most countries that have tourist attraction sites. A country that boasts of many natural parks will definitely have a huge Gross Domestic Product (G.D.P).

National parks usually have different attraction sites and features. Case in point is wild animal species that are common in most African national parks. Animals like lions, elephants, leopards and buffaloes roam most national parks of African countries. Animal species in other continents happen to be largely those not found in Africa. A good example is the availability of Kangaroos in Australian national parks and the great bison in United States of America.

The use of national parks for recreation is quite a new phenomenon though it is gaining traction the world over. Camping and hiking form part of some of the recreational attractions present in modern day national parks. In other countries, national parks are also used as arenas for holding of long distance races like marathons. How do national parks serve as recreational activities? This question is quite significant since many countries do not allow for human-wildlife conflicts.

First of all, it is good to understand that recreational activities cannot happen in any national parks. Only those national parks that allow for recreation without human-wildlife conflicts are used for such purposes. Case in point is the consistent use of the Big Bend national park in the United States of America for hiking activities. Availability of natural trails within the park makes it ideal for hiking.

Other outdoor activities carried out within national parks include camping and leisure walks. For camping to be conducted, a park that is not inhabited by carnivorous animals comes in handy. Carnivores are very dangerous and may cause harm to humans during camping times. The main way in which governments have made parks conducive for such activities is by demarcating areas for wildlife which are different from where recreational activities happen.
